The Mekhlar Class Destroyer
The Mekhlar Class Destroyer was intended to be the Klingon Empire’s front liner warship vessel. It was designed in 2320’s but its production was halted. The Klingons wanted a larger and more sophisticated breed of warship. The Vorcha was designed to fill the Klingon’s desire for a massive and sophisticated warship, it is far larger than the Mekhlar Class. The Vorcha was considered as one of the largest ship in the entire Star Trek universe. The Klingons then concentrated on manufacturing larger warship vessels and the Meklhar Class was in flux for a long period of time.
Klingons were known for its warrior culture as the empire used various warships exclusively. Almost all Klingon vessels were heavily armed and equipped with a warp drive. Almost all interiors of the Klingon vessel resembled a submarine. The Klingon believed in making few but superior war ships. The production of the Mekhlar Class Destroyer was stopped to pave way for the manufacturing of larger warship vessels.
In 2400, the Elorg War resulted to the destruction of most of the Vorcha warships and other large warships like the Birds of Prey and K’Tinga Class. This occurrence paved the way for the redesign and production of the Mekhlar Class. The newly manufactured Meklhar Class was armed with a transwarp system, which has the capacity to carry over 65 quantum torpedoes.
