The Powerful Borg Queen
A nation, a kingdom, or even a small community could not operate without a leader. Among the many species that showed up in the Star Trek films and TV series, are magnificent and powerful leaders. For the Borg species, they are under the power of the Borg Queen. The queen is the central locus of the Borg collective and has the power to bring order to the legions of voices within the Hive mind in order to get them moving as a common direction. Her main function is like that of any queen in an insect community but with greater force.
The Borg Queen functions as the primary speaker of the collective especially when there is contact with other species so although she lives in the Unimatrix One found in the Delta Quadrant, she is often away. She refers to herself both using the pronoun ‘I’ and ‘We’ because she is an individual yet she represents and directs the Borg collective. When residing at her permanent station or lair, the queen rests her head and spinal column in a special alcove. Physically, the Borg queen reassembles herself appearing with a more artificial body which includes her arms, legs, and torso. Her head and shoulders are the only parts of her body that appear to be organic but look like they have substantial cybernetic implants.
Despite the fact that the queen had been destroyed several times, she is easily replaced with one possessing the same and exact character, allowing other species to arrive at a theory that the queen is a persona that can occupy any drone.
