Captain Christopher Pike was the captain of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek pilot episode called “The Cage”. Captain Christopher Pike was originally played by Jeffrey Hunter. Unfortunately, The Cage pilot was rejected. Captain Christopher Pike was dropped from the development of the second pilot because Jeffrey Hunter declined to continue with the series. Yet the Captain Christopher Pike character soon appeared in the Star Trek Episode “The Menagerie”. This episode re-used original film that showed Jeffrey Hunter in “The Cage” episode. In “The Menagerie”, Captain Christopher Pike was played by Sean Kenney.
Captain Christopher Pike made yet another appearance in the 2009 Star Trek movie, where he was played by Bruce Greenwood. This Star Trek movie was directed by J.J. Abrams.
Captain Christopher Pike’s personal life remains shrouded in mystery. He comes from the city of Mojave, which can be found on Earth. Captain Christopher Pike also used to own a house called Tango.
The Star Trek canon recognizes Captain Christopher Pike as the first captain of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701. But according to the animated Star Trek series, the first captain of the USS Enterprise was actually Captain Robert April. This fact is supported by printed Star Trek fiction and reference books. Captain Christopher Pike was promoted to fleet captain before “The Menagerie” was aired. Pike suffers severe injuries while rescuing a number of space cadets.
