Gorn Species of Star Trek
Among the many species that appeared in the futuristic fiction Star Trek are the Gorn species. They are considered to be a cold-red-blooded bipedal reptilian species that are warp-capable. Physically, they have green and rubbery skin with an approximate height of two meters.
It was in 2267 when their species came in contact with the Federation after attacking the latter’s colony based on Cestus III because they consider Cestus as part of their territory. In defense, the USS Enterprise led by James T. Kirk pursued the Gorn starship to an unexplored are of the galaxy. Both ships were immobilized by the Metrons and Kirk with the Gorn captain was transported to the planet’s surface where they should settle their differences through a contest of ingenuity and brute strength. Although the Gorns were many times stronger than humanoids and humans, Kirk was able to defeat the captain by using constructed cannon. When Kirk showed mercy for the Gorn captain, they were transported back into their ship and the Enterprise out of the area as well.
Other characteristics of the Gorn species include having greater stamina than other humanoids as well as a liking for warmer temperature. They are durable and have the ability to use incredible force. Looking reptilian, the Gorn species only have small holes in place of their ears and possess very sharp teeth and vicious claws on their hands and feet. Some of them have insect-like eyes which are silvery and faceted while others have the humanoid eyes with pupils.
