Star Trek Hunk James Kirk in the USS Enterprise

Starfleet officer George Kirk and Winona Kirk produced their offspring James Tiberius Kirk. He was born in the USS Kelvin just when it was about to be destroyed by the Romulan ship, Narada. George Kirk died during this attack, leaving his new born son and wife.

Winona raised James in Iowa where she remarried after the USS Kelvin incident. The young Kirk grew up in a rebellious state until he met several Starfleet cadets and got into a fight inside a bar in 2555. It was Captain Christopher Pike who challenged him to reach his full potentials. The captain knew of James’ family history with the fleet as he wrote a dissertation about the USS Kelvin and was not surprised with the young Kirk’s knowledge of xenolinguistics.

Captain Pike broke off the bar fight and persuade James Kirk to join the fleet so that he could do more with his life instead of wasting it on bar fights. James laughed at this notion but Pike mentioned that with the capabilities James has, he could be Starfleet captain in just eight years. He also reminded James of his late father and how he died.

James did sign-up to complete the Academy training for three years. The USS Enterprise was still under construction at Riverside Shipyard, Iowa at that time. James Kirk rode his motor bike to the shipyard and had his first look at the ship. He gave his motorcycle to a construction worker and boarded a shuttle headed for the Starfleet Academy.
