The Cruel Klingon Bird of Prey
The Klingon Bird-of-Prey is a warship that was utilized by the Klingon Empire. It was used by the Klingon Defense Forces starting in the late 23rd century until the late 24th century. The Klingon Bird-of-Prey could be used as a cruiser, raider, patrol ship and scout. This led it to acquire a versatile reputation that could be used in many different missions.
There are several different classes of Klingon Birds-of-Prey. These are the D12-class, B’rel-class, and the K’vort-class. Due to faulty plasma coils, the D12-class Klingon Bird-of-Prey was no longer utilized by the 2350s. Plasma coils form part of the Klingon Bird-of-Prey’s cloaking systems. During the 2360s, you could often find a stripped B’rel-class Bird-of-Prey in a scrap heap. But these ships could be restored. They could even fly in space again, as shown by Ferengi DaiMon Lurin. He bought two B’rel-class Birds-of-Prey that still had cloaking devices. Ferengi DaiMon Lurin added a few weapons and made some repairs.
The Klingon Bird-of-Prey is one of the most-sighted Klingon ships in the Star Trek franchise. It was first seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The Klingon Bird-of-Prey would go on to be seen in five Star Trek films. The Klingon Bird-of-Prey can also be seen in the Star Trek series Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.
