The Romulan Bird of Prey was considered as the Romulan Empire?s scout class vessel. It was in service to the military of the Romulan Star Empire in the 23rd century. True to its namesake, its underside exposes a bold pattern of an alien bird?s feathers. It was one of the versatile warships that were utilized by the empire. It was set to mission roles as patrol, scout ship, raider and a cruiser.
In 2266, the Romulan Bird of Prey had its first encounter with the Federation Starfleet Vessel, when it crossed the Romulan neutral zone and destroyed several border outposts. However the Bird of Prey could not use shields or weapons whenever it was cloaked. Although it was incapable to supersede the federation Starfleet on a one-on-one encounter, the Romulan Bird of Prey had several technological advances that the Federation science could not fathom.
The Romulan Bird of Prey had a single forward torpedo launcher that carries a number of nuclear weapons. This torpedo launcher is massively powerful. In terms of speed and maneuverability, it can cause mayhem to a team of three. The Bird of Prey had an invisibility screen, which enabled it to strike its enemies undetected.
Inspite of the age of the birds of prey that dated back to 2370?s, its constant upgrades marked this warship as a powerful and capable front liner war craft.
