Geordi La Forge – A Sneak Peek

Geordi La Forge was born is 2335 with no optic nerves. When he was around 5 years old, he was given a prosthetic device identified as a VISOR (Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement), which enabled him to see. He wore this throughout his adult life. Geordi La Forge was somehow socially challenged; he was never able to bond or form close relationship with the people around him, mostly because of the inferiority complex his disability inflicted unto him.

With parents who have worked on the Starfleet, Geordi La Forge was fated to have the same career. He graduated as an engineer from the Academy and served at the USS hood. His first space assignment was onboard the USS Victory under Captain Zima Bata. He was later on given the rank as Lieutenant.

He had his first encounter with Captain Jean Lu Picard, when he was repairing a shuttle that seemed to have a superficial trouble. The captain was impressed of his distinctive abilities and he deemed Geordi La Forge as a valuable asset to him on his next mission, which is the USS enterprise, the flagship of Freedom. During his service on the vessel, he was given the rank Lt. Commander. He had his VISORS replaced with optic implants, that appear more like normal human eyes.
