The Best of Patrick Stewart’s Filmography
Sir Patrick Stewart is one of the staple characters in Star Trek. In fact, most people know him from this movie, other than his portrayal as Professor Xavier for the different X-Men movies. Patrick Stewart, who was born on July 13, 1940, is an English actor of film, television, and stage. Few people know that this overly talented and versatile actor is also a university chancellor. Another thing that would surprise Stewart’s fans is the fact that he voices the character of Avery Bullock, Stan’s boss in the CIA in the hit television show American Dad. Celebrating Stewart and his immensely vibrant career, let’s take a look of the best of his movie collection.
Gnomeo and Juliet
Gnomeo and Juliet is one of the much awaited animations this year. Another thing that makes this animated movie interesting is the participation of Stewart who lends his voice to Shakespeare in the movie. The plot of the movie revolves around two garden gnomes who can move and talk when humans are not around. James McAvoy voices Gnomeo while Juliet is voiced by Emily Blunt. Despite the feud going on between their families, they fall in love with each other. Other big stars included in the movie are Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, and Hulk Hogan.
X-Men the Last Stand
Most say that the last part of the X-Men trilogy is the best among the three installments. Director Brett Ratner replaced Bryan Singer in the last part of the threelogy, which tells the story of the newly discovered “cure” for mutant powers. Patrick Stewart gives excellent performance, reprising his role as Professor Xavier. Many agree that the role of Professor X wouldn’t have done any better than by Patrick Stewart. Along with him included stellar performances by Ian McKellen (Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Halle Berry (Storm), Anna Paquin (Rogue), and James Marsden (Cyclops). Kelsey Grammer and Vinnie Jones also were part of the cast as Beast and Juggernaut.
The Lion in Winter
Patrick Stewart has a penchant for movies that play around the genre of fantasy. He has starred in numerous sci-fi, animated, and superhero flicks. But there’s this one film entitled the Lion in Winter where his talents shine as a dramatic actor. The story is about an elderly king, King Henry II played by Stewart, who needs to choose one of his three sons to replace him in his throne as ruler of the British Empire. Apart from the issues with his sons, the king also have unresolved issues with his wife, whom he ordered to be held in captivity after she tried to overthrow his rule.
Star Trek Nemesis
Star Trek Nemesis is the tenth film of the Star Trek media franchise. It is also the last film released with the entire Next Generation crew original actors.
