The Intrepid-class Star Trek USS Voyager
The starship USS Voyager serves the primary setting for the science fiction television and movie series Star Trek: Voyage. Commander of the ship is Captain Kathryn Janeway. The ship’s design was made by Richard D. James, a well-known production designer, and Rick Sternbach, an equally popular illustrator.
Most of the ship’s appearances on screen are from computer-generated imagery but during the earlier years, there was an actual model used for the series. It was made by Tony Meinenger. The model is not with the production studio anymore. It was sold at a filming auction in October 2006 for $132,000. If you’re not a trekkie, it may be hard to comprehend how someone would spend that amount on a spacecraft model.
In the series, the Voyager was launched in the year 2371. Its main goal was to track down a Maquis ship in the Badlands. During the launch, it has 153 crew members on board. Some of these crew members and even senior officers like Lieutenant Stadi, Lt. Commander Cavit, and Chief Medical Officer Fitzgerald were killed after being flung to Delta Quadrant. Six years later, the crew number was down to 146 that is even after gaining some members from the Maquis, the Equinox, and so on.
Surviving members of the crew include Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Commander Chakotay (Robert Beltran), Lt. Tuvok (Tim Russ), Ensign Harry Kim (Garrett Wang), B’Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson), Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeil), Neelix (Ethan Phillips) and Kes (Jennifer Lien), among others.
